Being a Wimbledon family photographer allows me to shoot at various lovely outdoors locations. There are many wonderful parks and green spaces all in close proximity to Wimbledon. After last week’s outdoor shoot at Cannizaro Park, I returned again with this lovely family.
Unfortunately, most of the autumnal leaves had been blown off the trees following a very windy week in London. However, we still managed to make the most of the lovely surroundings at Cannizaro Park. I was photographing three generations of this family. The grandmother must be one of the fittest grandmothers around – she is 88 and still swims 40 lengths twice a week – definitely something to aspire to do at that age!
Last year we did the photos in Richmond Park so Cannizaro Park offered some variety to the family shoot. It was a chilly but sunny afternoon when we headed out for photos. We braved the elements and came away with some lovely portraits of all three generations. Alice is an avid tree climber and nimbly climbs every tree around and before you know it she is at the top of the tree posing for her photograph. Will took his rugby ball with him and was also keen to climb trees.
As there are so many wonderful spots in Cannizaro Park you can incorporate different settings and textures for a variety of photographs. I also like to take casual and relaxed photographs and I definitely think an outdoor setting, such as a park or green space lends itself to this. Most of the time the children don’t even feel like they are having their photos taken. I feel I get the best photographs when children are at ease and relaxed. Expressions are more relaxed and natural. We all had a wonderful time.
